The buildingRed Granite is located inside Rib Mountain Elementary. The two schools share common spaces but keep separate classrooms, teachers, and school communities.
School dayDrop-off 8:15–8:30 am at door #8; pick-up 3:15–3:25 pm.
BusingDistrict busing is available for K–5 on Rib Mountain routes. It is not offered for 4K at this time.
All-day 4KRed Granite runs the only full-day 4K in the district, on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday rotation.

How enrollment works
Red Granite is a tuition-free public charter school chartered through the Wausau School District, so registration runs through the district. There is no separate Red Granite application to fill out.
Check that the grade is open
Red Granite adds a grade each year. For the 2026–27 school year, enrollment is open for 4K through fourth grade, and fifth grade opens in fall 2027. When more families apply than a classroom can seat, places are filled by lottery and the remaining families join a waitlist.

Wausau School District handles enrollment for every district school, including the online enrollment flow and Infinite Campus steps.
Wausau enrollment informationLiving outside the district?
Wisconsin’s open enrollment window runs from early February to the end of April for the following school year, and a family may apply to up to three districts. Districts mail decisions in early June. Outside that window, an alternative procedure covers the current school year for families who meet the criteria.
Open enrollment rules and current datesA tour has no effect on placement. It is there to help your family decide, not to improve your odds. Staff can tell you which grades have space and where a waitlist currently stands — ask any time.
